Absorbing glass fiber separators are mainly of adsorption type. The following mainly introduces AGM separators.

Ultra-fine glass fiber glass fiber separator is widely used in valve-regulated lead-acid batteries. Its main function is to enable ion flow, porosity, large surface area and good wettability between battery electrodes. The main feature is that it can absorb a large amount of electrolyte. The separator inside the battery should have long-term stable chemical and electrochemical corrosion resistance, without releasing any substances, increasing the deposition rate, corrosion and self-discharge; in addition, it should also have good tensile strength to ensure that the battery is assembled during the assembly process. The partition will not be pierced by sharp edges or small particles. The separator is an important component in battery production, and its pros and cons directly affect the battery's discharge capacity, charge and discharge and cycle life, so it must be selected and studied. The partition inside the battery usually meets the following requirements:

1. Prevent the internal short circuit caused by the positive and negative pole contact;

2. Tightly assemble the battery to reduce the size of the battery;

3. Prevent plate deformation, bending and material falling off;

4. Store the electrolyte in the porous separator between the two electrode plates to ensure its high conductivity and the requirements for battery reaction;

5. Prevent certain harmful electrode substances from migrating and diffusing through the separator.

In order for the separator to perform the above-mentioned functions smoothly in the battery pack, the separator itself must be required. For the following requirements, the function status of the battery is often different. Generally speaking, the quality requirements for partitions are as follows:

1. The separator material itself is an insulator, but the made separator must have a loose and porous structure that can absorb a large amount of electrolyte solution;

2. The separator has good chemical stability, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and aging;

3. The partition should have greater mechanical strength and flexibility, which is convenient for production and installation;

4. The separator should have good wettability, that is, the electrolyte acid can penetrate the electrolyte;

5. Do not leach harmful battery impurities from sulfuric acid solution;

6. The color of the surface of the partition is basically the same, without cracks or perforations;

7. The resistance of the separator immersed in the electrolytic sulfuric acid solution should be small;

8. The use temperature range of the partition should be very wide;

9. The separator should have porosity and high pore size consistency;

10. The soft partition should have a shrinkage or expansion rate that meets the requirements;

11. The soft partition should have better flexural resistance;

12. The dry thickness and uniformity of the separator meet the index requirements;
